| Subject: Censorship - An essential part of every country (part 1) Sun Mar 23, 2014 6:27 pm | |
| Censorship is the principle of any country. People properly remember that the whole world is turbulent due to the film "The Innocence of Muslims" by the Egyptian - American filmmaker named Nakoula Basselay last year. It had not been permitted to premiere in the official cinema theatres at that time. Although the director just uploaded a 14-minute video on the You Tube Chanel, it caused a wrath for all of the Muslims in every nation. The wave of anti America flared in the Middle East, North Africa, Asia and so on. Immediately, the U.S. authorities had to investigate who is the author of this film. The filmmaker Nakoula was arrested right after they discovered the culprit. Therefore, the question here is that what kinds of dangers are contained in the movie’s content. Indeed, Nakoula only wanted to portray the Prophet Muhammad as a normal human being, who had relationships with many women, disregarded for religion and also did not have a good manner to children. The film was certainly prohibited to disseminate by the U.S. authorities. Even a country like Bhutan in the Himalayan region has its own rules. When the cable system entering the country, the Bhutanese government has not allowed two channels named TV Fashion and MTV to be broadcasted. They give the reason that the channel's contents do not match the traditions and customs of a Buddhist country as Bhutan. Finally, the rich men of two channels must follow the rules of the host. Or in Russia, in September 2012, a Russian TV channel has conducted to censor an American animated film called “The Simpsons” because it has excessive scenes of violence, drinking and smoking. The General Director of this channel, Lev Makarov, says: "We will re-make all the programs which have the scenes coordinated by new regulations. For example, we will delete the movie scenes to be black and write a funny message on it.'' In China, it imports about 35 foreign films each year but the censorship system works very closely. In February 2013, the Vietnamese theatres simultaneously introduced the American blockbuster “Skyfall”. However, this film received a strong censorship in our neighbour country. The scenes illustrating prostitution in Shanghai were cut; or the scene of torturing Bardem by the Chinese security force was discarded. After that, in April 2013, the film “Cloud Atlas” was also broadcasted widely in Vietnam; still this film was cut to 40 minutes when screened in China. The gay marriage or heterosexual scenes were cut without mercy. It can be affirmed that the censorship is regularly implemented in all countries, which has become more necessary in this era of globalization. Even in textbook s for school students, experts pointed out the threat of globalization trends. It blurs the boundaries as well as fades cultural differences between nations. Consequently, countries need to take measures to preserve their own identities. This sounds contradictory; but if thinking carefully, you will see that once not being able to conserve its own identity, the country will disappear from this big world. - Attachments
