"Leadership" the word that everybody would have known is we are a children. When I was young, I was thinking simply that a leader is a person who's role is announcing important rules, decided which games and how we are going to play a game. As I have been growing up, I realized that there are much more to know about leadership and it's such a really important thing that we should learn in our life.


So there are so many definitions of leadership. As I read inn the The Collins English dictionary which defines leadership as “the leader of a party or group.” This might be the simplest definition of leadership. But actually, a true leadership is much more than that.
There are also many way to be a leader. A leader can be the CEO of an organization, or even a first year employee who leads his or her team to success behind the scenes. A leader might lead through official authority and power, yet just as often great leaders lead through inspiration, persuasion and personal connections. I remember that I read and was impressed by the definition:  “Leadership is the art of leading others to deliberately create a result that wouldn’t have happened otherwise.”.  and to me, it is very interesting.


So I questioned myself, what makes a good leader? After I've looking for some examples and about how to be a good leader, this is my result: 


In order to be a good leader, you should have these basic characteristics:
1. Self-Awareness. You have an intimate knowledge of your inner emotional state. You know your strengths and your weaknesses. You know when you’re working in flow and you know when you’re over worked. You know yourself, including your capabilities and your limitations, which allows you to push yourself to your maximum potential.


2. Self-Direction. You’re able to direct yourself effectively and powerfully. You know how to get things done, how to organize tasks and how to avoid procrastination. You know how to generate energy for projects, to calm yourself when angered. You can make decisions quickly when necessary, but can also slow to consider all the options on the table.


3. Vision. You’re working towards a goal that’s greater than yourself. It could be something small, like the success of the team, or a larger vision like world peace. Working towards a vision is far more inspiring than working towards personal gain.


4. Ability to Motivate. Leaders don’t lead by telling people what they have to do. Instead, leaders cause people to want to help them. A key part of this is cultivating your own desire to help others. When others sense that you want to help them, they in turn want to help you.


5. Social Awareness. Understanding social networks and key influencers in that social network is another key part of leadership. Who in the organization has the most clout, both officially and unofficially? 


I still remember an English class in my senior year of high school, my English teacher Mr. Randall asked a question in a Beowulf lesson: "What's in common of those people? Obama, Justin Bieber, Bill Gates, Queen Elizabeth and also Beowulf?". They're famous, said my classmate. And my teacher answer: Why they are famous? Because they are a good leader"

I totally agree with your opinion about characteristics of a great leader. 
I'd like to add more ideas. 

In my points of view, another important attribute of a good leader is the ability to delegate

Finessing your brand vision is essential to creating an organized and efficient business, but if you don’t learn to trust your team with that vision, you might never progress to the next stage. Its important to remember that trusting your team with your idea is a sign of strength, not weakness. Delegating tasks to the appropriate departments is one of the most important skills you can develop as your business grows. The emails and tasks will begin to pile up, and the more you stretch yourself thin, the lower the quality of your work will become, and the less you will produce.

The key to delegation is identifying the strengths of your team, and capitalizing on them. Find out what each team member enjoys doing most. Chances are if they find that task more enjoyable, they will likely put more thought and effort behind it. This will not only prove to your team that you trust and believe in them, but will also free up your time to focus on the higher level tasks, that should not be delegated. It’s a fine balance, but one that will have a huge impact on the productivity of your business.

One more thing I think that is what makes a good leader: Confidence to bear the risks or take risks.

There may be days where the future of your brand is worrisome and things aren’t going according to plan. This is true with any business, large or small, and the most important thing is not to panic. Part of your job as a leader is to put out fires and maintain the team morale. Keep up your confidence level, and assure everyone that setbacks are natural and the important thing is to focus on the larger goal. As the leader, by staying calm and confident, you will help keep the team feeling the same. Remember, your team will take cues from you, so if you exude a level of calm damage control, your team will pick up on that feeling. The key objective is to keep everyone working and moving ahead.

Last but not least, Creativity is also essential. Some decisions will not always be so clear-cut. You may be forced at times to deviate from your set course and make an on the fly decision. This is where your creativity will prove to be vital. It is during these critical situations that your team will look to you for guidance and you may be forced to make a quick decision. As a leader, its important to learn to think outside the box and to choose which of two bad choices is the best option. Don’t immediately choose the first or easiest possibility; sometimes its best to give these issues some thought, and even turn to your team for guidance. By utilizing all possible options before making a rash decision, you can typically reach the end conclusion you were aiming for.

Very specific VuongThiThuHa.  Those 3 characteristic that you mentioned above is pretty important as well. What I like most among those 3 is creativity. I think it's the factor to make a difference, make you unique and change things. But there are also many other characteristics that leaders should have in order to be success. 
P/s: I think you will be a powerful leader, you have many characteristic for a potential leader sis.  I love you
