Challenges to working in virtual organizations.
Firstly, We need understand what is vitual organization?
Large companies, especially multinational corporations, commonly established virtual work groups - the group consists of members in widely separated geographically - to carry out a certain project. In this way, they can get the best staff for the project. However, to a virtual workgroups operate effectively is not an easy job. Communication technology is improving constantly makes communication easier than ever before. Technically, the collaboration with remote colleagues or people held meetings with many people scattered around the world is no longer a challenge anymore.
Acording to McDonough and Cedrone(2000) point out three primary challenges to working in a vitual global environment : motivation, creating a “safe” environment, and managing the process of communication
· +> Motivation: requires that all member have a compelling reason and clear understanding of why they need to communicate with others and the benefit of collaboration regarding business outcome.
· +> Creating a safe environment: depends on trust and mutual respect which built from open information exchanges and meeting. Besides the link between the members is not tight. There is no direct exchange daily, you and the members have more effort to communicate correctly and efficiently. No exchange of the cup of coffee at lunchtime and enjoy yourself more and not be together in the after-hours fun
· +> Managing the process of communication: includes being sensitive to technology selection and understanding the complexities of various media. So you need to replace the transmission unofficially lost by effectively using communications technology, and attention to communicating requirements to see if they understand how recovery is correct or not, the real implementation can satisfy the requirements of the job ... not all need to be recovered and the confirmation.
